Job Description
Responsibilites:
The API Programmer/Writer will be responsible for overseeing complex documentation projects that include researching, developing and writing documentation components for a Software Developer audience. The documentation will exhibit an understanding of programming documentation principles and development, describe complex state-of-the-art software architectures, and illustrate how to develop software applications using the Software Developer Kits/Device Driver Kits, APIs, or Developer tools.
Experience:
- Derive documentation from project source code
- Plan, schedule, organize, track, write, and edit technical information as necessary
- Demonstrate team leadership, mentoring, and problem solving
- Drive the development of the documentation standards and practices as they relate to the API documentation
- Train new team members on API documentation standards and methodologies
- Work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors
- Exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results
- Represent the Documentation team as required in the demonstration and promotion of Alfresco products and documentation methodologies and practices
Qualifications and Essential Skills Required:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Technical Communications, or any other applicable technical discipline
- 1 or more years professional technical writing and editing experience in a high-technology software or hardware industry
- Ability to read and/or write one or more high-level programming language, including Java
- Ability to develop code samples and applications
- Specific knowledge of, and interest in, several major technologies
- Proven experience working in a commercial software development environment
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated time management skills
- Strong knowledge of commercial software development lifecycle
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity working in a Single Source environment
- Knowledge of an Open Source programming environment and methodology

Freedom to act
This role will report to the Information Manager, although it is expected that the individual will work largely independently and need minimal supervision.
