John Powell

John Powell

John Powell is President and CEO of Alfresco and has 25 years of enterprise software sales and operations experience.

Prior to Alfresco, John was responsible for running worldwide operations at Business Objects®. During his tenure, Business Objects grew at 50% per annum to $415m and a market capitalization in excess of $6B. Business Objects was subsequently acquired by SAP for $6.8B. Powell founded Business Objects UK in 1991, and built the UK organization and then the global organization into the most successful Business Intelligence player worldwide.

Prior to joining Business Objects, Powell worked in sales management positions at Oracle® and Comshare®. He has a BS First Class from Birmingham University.

John Newton

John Newton

John Newton, CTO and Chairman, has had one of the longest and most influential careers in content management. In 1990, John co-founded, designed and led the development of Documentum®, the leader in content management acquired by EMC®.

For the next ten years, he invented many of the concepts widely used in the industry today. In addition, he built Documentum's marketing and professional services organizations in Europe. John has also been an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Benchmark Capital.

John was one of the founding engineers at Ingres® where he helped develop the world's first commercial relational database. John graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley.

Steve McLoughlin

Stephen McLoughlin is Alfresco's CFO and has over 20 years experience in the software industry. He is responsible for Alfresco's worldwide finance, internal IT, accounting, HR, legal, and administrative operations. Prior to joining Alfresco was CFO of Vidus, a BT plc spinout, and before that was Finance Director of Business Objects UK. A qualified accountant, Stephen is a graduate of Manchester University and holds a PhD from London University.

Todd Barr

Todd Barr, Chief Marketing Officer, brings 15 years of experience working in the enterprise software and commercial open source technology industries to Alfresco. Most recently, Todd served as VP of marketing at Bandwidth.com, where he led the launch of Phonebooth Free – the first totally free hosted phone system for small businesses.

Previously, Todd served as VP of Business Development at Five Runs, an Austin, TX based startup in the Ruby-on-Rails space. Todd also spent six years at Red Hat, where he built the software vendor certification program for Red Hat Enterprise Linux and oversaw global go-to-market campaigns.

Todd holds a Bachelor’s degree in Radio, TV & Film and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from UNC Chapel Hill.

Paul Holmes-Higgin

Dr Paul Holmes-Higgin is Chief Product Officer, with responsibility for managing Alfresco's product team and ensuring both innovation and quality are delivered in Alfresco's software.

Paul has over 20 years experience of managing teams in collaborative research and development, both in open source and proprietary software organizations, including IBM® and Documentum®. His focus has always been to realize advanced technology solutions to real world problems.

His expertise covers Knowledge-based Expert Systems, Neural Networks, Information Extraction and Multilingual Natural Language Processing. Paul has been pivotal in a number of innovation start-ups, as well as having extensive experience of corporate production systems with Resumix® and Documentum®. Paul has PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Surrey.

David Caruana

David Caruana is an experienced and innovative software architect who has been developing high profile software products for over 10 years.

David was designated Documentum's employee of the year for his work on Documentum's Web Development Kit and Webtop version 5. David also designed Documentum® iTeam™, team collaboration and knowledge management software.

Prior to Documentum, David was a principal engineer at Oracle® working as an architect on CASE and repository tools. David's expertise covers J2EE, enterprise systems, UML/CASE tool development and meta-data repositories and has used this to produce a wide range of successful corporate solutions and developer SDK's.

Barry Duplantis

Barry Duplantis is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Alfresco customer experience globally, including customer support, training, consulting and documentation projects.

Barry has over 20 years of software support services and operations experience. He comes to Alfresco from Hewlett Packard where he was Director, Global Incident Management Support, setting worldwide support strategy and direction for the entire HP Software portfolio. Barry landed at HP through the acquisition of Opsware, where he ran support services. Prior to HP and Opsware, Barry led Red Hat's Global Support Services, successfully transitioning Red Hat's support services from hobbyist/user focused support model to an enterprise subscription based global support model.

As VP of EMEA & APAC Denis Dorval manages sales and business development activities in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific regions. Denis has significant experience in both content management and growing a partner led European business. Prior to Alfresco, Denis was Director for Partnerships & Alliance at FileNet, where he played a key role in defining & implementing go-to-market strategy with partners as part of the FileNet P8 launch, as well as managing indirect sales and relationships with key European global system integrators.

Prior to FileNet, Denis was founder and CEO of Webedisoft, a French- BPM software company that he created in 1999, which was subsequently acquired by another BPM software company in 2002.

Martin Musierowicz is Alfresco’s vice president of Americas. Martin is responsible for scaling Americas’ growth including sales, alliances and channels.

Martin previously served as Alfresco’s vice president of business development and has over 15 years of open source experience including positions with JBoss®, IBM®, Sequent® Computers and an advisory position at the Open Source Development Lab (OSDL). Prior to Alfresco, Martin was responsible for partner business development and marketing at JBoss, where he created the JBoss Certified Partner Program and grew the partner network from its infancy to well over 150 partners. At IBM, Martin was part of IBM's entry into Linux and managed open source solutions for the telecommunications vertical.

Martin holds a B.S. in molecular biology and an M.B.A. with a concentration in technology management.

Jennifer Venable

Jennifer Venable is Alfresco's General Counsel, responsible for the company's legal affairs worldwide, including intellectual property matters and commercial contracts. Jennifer has a deep understanding of open source licensing and business models having spent 7 years at Red Hat in legal and business development roles. With this background she provides practical legal guidance to the company around its technology and services offerings. Prior to Red Hat, she was in-house counsel for a technology start-up and in private law practice focused on mergers and acquisitions. Jennifer holds a Bachelor's degree from the College of William and Mary and a J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Jeff Potts, Chief Community Officer, has been a recognized and award-winning leader in the Alfresco community for several years. He comes to us with 18 years of content management and collaboration experience, most of that having come from senior leadership positions in consulting organizations. Most recently, Jeff served as the President of Metaversant Group, Inc., an Alfresco Recognized Gold Partner, and prior to that Jeff led the content management practice at Optaros, an open source consultancy.

Jeff has made many contributions to the Alfresco community since he started working with Alfresco in 2005. Examples range from code, to tutorials and informative blog posts, to code camps, meetups, and conference sessions. In 2008, Jeff wrote the Alfresco Developer Guide, the first developer-focused book on Alfresco. He has also been active in the Apache Chemistry project where he leads the development of cmislib, the Python API for CMIS.

Jeff holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas.
