Many of you will know and use Adobe’s document sharing site acrobat.com. The content infrastructure is provided by Alfresco and our engineers have worked closely with Adobe engineers on this internet scale application.
The results of this effort can now be enjoyed by all Alfresco Enterprise subscribers, as these improvements are incorporated into versions 2.2 sp3 and 3.0 sp1 onwards.
Adobe has seen a dramatic improvement in performance for an application acquiring thousands of new users per day, managing tens of thousands of document uploads each day and storing 12 terabytes of user controlled content. The charts below show the dramatic improvement after the upgrade was completed recently.
Here is a note to our subscribers from Shahram Javey, Sr. Engineering Manager, Adobe Systems. "The Alfresco 2.2 sp3 marks an important milestone in terms of both sheer performance and scalability for both Alfresco and Adobe Share. We spent a number of months performance tuning Alfresco and Share, specifically the database access layers, and the results in terms of uptick in the number of users clearly shows that our customers like the consistent responsiveness of the new system."
Another recent development comes in the form of Alfresco Labs 3.0 Final, which includes a host of improvements as well as the collaboration capabilities in Alfresco Share.
Battling against the recession, our daily download rates for Alfresco Labs have tripled since December’08. We have also had great feedback from the press and community. I'd like to offer my thanks to our community, partners and core engineers who have worked so hard over the last 12 months to make this a great success.
Best regards,
John Powell,
CEO, Alfresco.

Optaros completes Drupal / Alfresco integration with CMIS-Alfresco Module
The “CMIS-Alfresco” module is an implementation of the CMIS API that lets Drupal sites connect to Alfresco specifically. The module facilitates CMIS queries, open search queries, and two-way synchronization of content between Drupal and Alfresco. Optaros believes that CMIS is an important specification because it unlocks the content siloed away in an enterprise and makes it accessible in a uniform way by any front-end.
