The MSI Outlook Integration for Alfresco is a robust integration that allows users to avoid saving duplicate e-mails as well as simplifying assignment of metadata while saving e-mails and their attachments into the Alfresco repository.  The MSI Outlook Integration delivers significant productivity enhancements and error reduction for Alfresco users who rely on the seamless integration of Outlook and Alfresco. MSI Outlook Integration has been developed to combine ease of use and intuitive navigation with robust features resulting in a user friendly application requiring minimal education for full user adoption and rollout.

During the saving of the e-mail, the color coded document grid will inform the user if the e-mail has already been saved by another user as well as if the attachment(s) have been saved by another user.  In the event the attachments have been saved, the e-mail grid will display the version number of the document about to be saved.  Users can also attach documents stored in Alfresco to an e-mail while in MS-Outlook.   Users can either navigate to the file or they can search on the document using their existing document properties.  Depending on how the solution is configured, the user can select the appropriate document Aspects in order to display the appropriate metadata.  The exposure of certain metadata based on a selected Aspect can be setup for saving e-mails and attachments as well as locating documents in Alfresco for attachment to an e-mail. 

Users can select multiple e-mails with attachments in order to save the same metadata to these e-mails and attachments.  The user can also select multiple files from Alfresco, to be attached to an outgoing e-mail. 

The e-mails and documents will be stored based on a combination of metadata values and defined business rules.  This will ensure that documents are stored in the correct location every time.   Notifications can also be setup to advise the appropriate users when certain e-mails or documents arrive.
