Study by Independent Research Firm Finds That Alfresco Enterprise Pays For Itself in 10 Months
Typical Customers Experience Significant IT Cost Savings & 53% ROI Over 3 Years
London, 17 January 2012 — Alfresco, the open platform for social content management, today announced the results of a commissioned study conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of Alfresco that determines the total economic impact of the Alfresco Enterprise content management platform. The study highlights Alfresco's typical benefits and ROI compared to total IT & training costs, based on extensive interviews and analysis of 4 major customer implementations. The Alfresco implementations studied included both net-new projects, as well as a full replacement of a legacy proprietary ECM solution (such as Documentum or FileNet).
The full study, "The Total Economic Impact Of Alfresco Enterprise Content Management Solution", is being made available today at http://www.alfresco.com/forrester, and Alfresco also announced a webinar discussion with guest speaker, Forrester consultant Sebastian Selhorst on February 1, 2012 that will provide additional commentary around the study. The study praised the Alfresco Enterprise platform for its flexibility for integrations and support of open standards, as well as the benefits of significant cost avoidance on licensing and maintenance fees with Alfresco. Specifically – the average Alfresco Enterprise platform customer found that the software pays for itself within 10 months, and provides a 53% return-on-investment within 3 years. Total benefits over a 3-year risk-adjusted period were conservatively identified at over $1.3 million. These dramatic savings only include direct IT & training costs. If the widely accepted employee productivity gains associated with document management and collaboration are factored in, the overall ROI of an Alfresco implementation is often much higher.
"We're proud of the results of this study as they confirm the value we provide to our customers," said John Powell, CEO of Alfresco. "Nothing is more important to us than providing customers with a platform and service experience that exceeds their expectations and empowers their employees to do great work. This study confirms that Alfresco's innovation extends beyond great technology to creating unprecedented economic value for our customers."
As part of the study, Forrester developed a Total Economic Impact (TEI) Framework for businesses considering implementation of the Alfresco Enterprise platform. The TEI Framework provides a tested methodology for interested companies to make a fully informed assessment and purchasing decision as they work through the process of selecting an enterprise content management platform for their unique needs.
