Alfresco Continues To Expand Globally And Responds To Growing Spanish Demand
Launches New Local Language Website and Forum; Witnesses Increased Customer and Partner Momentum
LONDON, 17 October, 2007 – Alfresco Software Inc. today announced that it has launched a brand new website and forum for the Spanish language market. The move comes in response to rapidly growing demand from customers and partners within the region and builds on other recently launched websites from around Europe including France. Due to the nature of open source development, Alfresco’s websites and forums play a key role in the formation of its community and the sharing of knowledge and resources between developers, users and customers.
Alfresco’s customer list in Spain already includes an impressive selection of public and private sector businesses that are already taking advantage of open source ECM for a range of applications. These include Barceló Viajes, Government of Catalonia, City of Mijas, Government of Andalucia, Punto Inmobiliario, TUI and the University of the Balearic Islands. Spain is becoming a major global user of open source software and ranked 3rd in the recently published Open Source Barometer survey*.
“Momentum in Spain and South America has really begun to take hold now and therefore the launch of a Spanish-language website and forums is a natural step for us to take in order to support and nurture this growth,” said John Powell, CEO, Alfresco. “Being able to have direct contact with our user base is absolutely vital to the evolution and development of the Alfresco ECM solution and through this launch we hope to provide a platform that will promote collaboration and discussion within the Alfresco community.”
Now up and running after a matter of weeks in development, the new site is completely managed within Alfresco’s existing WCM architecture. Using a multi-lingual content model, one system manages the creation of content in a controlled manner before publishing in English, French, Spanish and Japanese. Contributors to the Spanish site include the Alfresco staff and local partner, Intecna. The brand new site and forum can be found at /es
The Alfresco open source ECM solution has now been downloaded 700,000 times with 21,000 active installations and 300 customers. Along with the active English, French and now Spanish websites, other major language sites are also currently in development.
