Platform News

For the past few months we’ve been asking for your cloud feedback and if you’re a user of our service, you should have received an email last week with this major recent release. I’ve included a few of the release highlights below in case you missed them:

New Look & Feel

We’ve been working on a new user interface (UI)  that we are pretty excited about and you can start using today! We’ve made the look and feel more fresh and modern, de-cluttered a lot of the toolbars and buttons for a simpler and clearer experience. Starting with the top header, we’ve slimmed it down and removed most of the toolbars that were previously distracting. All your sites and dashboards can now be configured using the  icon at the top. We’ve also made the Site’s menu much better with a list of your most recent sites visited in the dropdown menu.

This is only the beginning of a complete refresh to Alfresco’s look and feel. In future releases, you can look forward to a refreshed UI for other parts of the application using this same new look and feel. This will only serve to make Alfresco even easier to use so keep an eye out for more changes in future releases!

Advanced Search in Cloud

Those of you power users who wish to do more advanced searches on both keywords and metadata across your content in Alfresco in the cloud, will now find a new Advanced Search page accessible from the  icon in the top search box. You can now search for content on a whole range of criteria including the item type, the date that content was last modified, or who modified it, or even whether the content you want to find is a folder or a specific item.

New Site Notice Dashlet

For those of you who wish to add a site notice for all users who access your site, we’ve now provided a simple Site Notice dashlet that allows you to put welcome messages or a site table of contents on the site’s dashboard. You can include some basic HTML for images and links in the notice, so you can make it as rich or as simple as you want.

If you’re looking for more help with using Alfresco in the cloud after the changes, we’ve provided new online videos here to get you started. Be sure to check out our online documentation if you need more details and feel free to visit our forum here. Don’t forget to also leave us a comment below to share your feedback on the changes we’ve made so far, we’d love to hear your thoughts!
