This will be our fifth annual get-together for Alfresco friends, fans, customers, partners, and employees. It’s shaping up to be the best one yet! Where previous conferences focused primarily on solving technical challenges and shared intelligence on the Alfresco platform, this year’s 2013 conference will include that as well as several sessions for our growing base of business users.

Barcelona, November 4-7
Jimmy Wales of Wikipedia fame will kick off the Alfresco Summit 2013. Wales is widely recognized as one of the most influential and successful entrepreneurs of our time. In 2006, he was named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People and is listed as one of the Forbes “Web Celebs 25.” At the Alfresco Summit 2013 in Barcelona, he’ll discuss how open-source, open-content technology is changing the face of the Internet and how businesses must adapt to this rapidly evolving technology in order to compete and innovate. Learn how world class businesses are learning from the successful Wikipedia model and using the same collaborative tools that Wikipedia employs.
Simon Wardley will be joining us from CSC’s Leading Edge Forum. As a passionate advocate and researcher in the fields of open source, commoditization, innovation, organizational structure and cybernetics, Simon was voted as one of ComputerWeekly’s 50 Most Influential People in IT in the UK. At the Alfresco Summit 2013 in Barcelona, he’ll discuss how new technologies and practices are changing the way we interact with devices and content and how your business can use this changing environment to your advantage.
Hanns Koehler-Kruener will be joining us from Gartner Research. Koehler-Kruener has spent almost two decades on the forefront of enterprise content management, social content and enterprise search, as well as metadata, text analytics and taxonomy strategies. Today, as research director for Gartner Research, he covers these industries with a specific focus on ECM strategies, systems and vendors. At the Alfresco Summit 2013 in Barcelona, he will share best practices around what every business should know about ECM strategy, imaging and document management systems, and e-discovery products and social content vendors in order to earn a competitive advantage.

Andrew McAfee will be headlining our Boston event. As one of the world’s top technology innovators, Andrew McAfee is widely recognized as a visionary who has defined the role of technology in the competitive landscape. His thought leadership around “Enterprise 2.0” has laid the framework for how businesses approach the use of Web 2.0 tools to gain competitive advantage. A principal research scientist at MIT Sloan School of Management and a fellow of Harvard Law School, McAfee received his doctorate from Harvard Business School and completed two Master of Science and two Bachelor of Science degrees at MIT. At the Alfresco Summit 2013 in Boston, he’ll talk about how to engage modern knowledge workers by deploying the best collaborative tools, clearly defining organizational priorities, and then getting out of the way.
Dries Buytaert will be joining us in Boston. A pioneer in the open source web publishing and collaboration platform space, Dries Buytaert serves as the project lead for Drupal, an open source content management platform powering millions of websites and applications worldwide. In 2012, Ernst & Young named him Entrepreneur of the Year in New England and in 2013 he was elected a Young Global Leader for the World Economic Forum. At the Alfresco Summit 2013 in Boston, he’ll share how grassroots movements like Drupal can grow to change the world and how this model can be applied to the business context of enabling users in an organization to effectively create and share their content.
Stephen O’Grady of industry analyst group RedMonk fame will round out our external industry expert keynotes. A principal analyst and co-founder of RedMonk, the leading open source industry analyst firm, Stephen is a highly sought after speaker and expert on infrastructure software including programming languages, operating systems and databases, as well as horizontal industry trends such as open source and cloud computing.
