Alfresco Announces Keynote Speakers and Detailed Agenda for Fall New York Developer Conference
AIIM President to Kick Off Two-Day Session on Content-Centric Application Development
LONDON – September 29, 2010 – Alfresco Software today announced that John Mancini, Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM) president, and Jeff Schick, vice president of the IBM Software Group, Social Software, will keynote the company’s upcoming Developer Conference to be held in New York City November 3-4. The conference is designed to offer a deep technical dive into both Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) and Alfresco’s open source ECM platform.
The New York event will feature John Mancini, president of AIIM International, a key industry association helping organizations find, control and optimize their information. Prior to joining AIIM, Mancini spent 11 years in various positions at the American Electronics Association in Washington, D.C., most recently as executive vice president and chief operating officer. He has also served as executive director of the Foundation for Public Affairs.
The New York Developer Conference is backed by Diamond Sponsor IBM. Jeff Schick, vice president for IBM’s initiatives for social software, will also headline as the sponsor keynote. Schick started with IBM in 1988 and has held various roles in both development and the field. In his developer role, he invented the first TCP/IP interface to IBM’s transaction processing systems. With his strength in distributed computing, he has since lead architecture and design for many large web based systems. Schick also ran IBM’s Worldwide Content Management sales force for several years and currently has overall responsibility for development, marketing, sales and services.
The Developer Conference will be led by Alfresco’s product engineering team and will provide a unique opportunity to learn about content-centric application development. Attendees will acquire the resources necessary to start creating CMIS applications, allowing them to participate in the burgeoning Composite Content Application marketplace. The Alfresco Developer Conference agenda will include best practice sessions and tracks on:
- Alfresco Application: Alfresco architects will show how to customize and extend Alfresco Share, including an introduction to Activiti BPM;
- Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS): Enabling developers to learn about CMIS, what organizations can do with it and where to find the resources necessary to start crafting custom CMIS applications;
- Content Repository Services: Alfresco architects will demonstrate how to extend the platform’s core services through practical examples and code walkthroughs;
- Web Content Management (WCM): Developers will explore firsthand the radical changes coming to Alfresco’s WCM capabilities.
