Alfresco Extends Proactive Security Protection with Activity Partnership
Partnership provides Security Assessment Service to Alfresco in the Cloud
London, UK August 16, 2012 -- Alfresco, the cloud connected content platform, today announced a technology partnership with Activity, an independent specialist in information assurance that helps organizations protect their business operations, data networks, business information and online assets. Security in the enterprise has always been a concern and if recent headlines are any indication of the realities that organizations face taking proactive security measures are more important than ever. With Activity’s approach to simulate real-world attacks, Alfresco is efficiently armed in real-time to stay ahead of current vulnerabilities and to encourage organizations to take a proactive approach to ensure the safety of business-critical content.
“We are very excited to partner with Alfresco to ensure its cloud service can seamlessly provide another level of security for its global network of customers, partners and developers that look to Alfresco as their cloud connected content platform,” said Neil O’Connor, Managing Director at Activity. “Alfresco is one of the few organizations in the space that goes beyond just checking off the security box to make sure they proactively continue to make the security of content a priority.”
Activity’s security testing methodology is built upon industry standards for security assessments activities such as CESG CHECK, the Open Source Security Testing Methodology Manual (OSSTMM), the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) and the Council of Registered Ethical Security Testers (CREST). Activity’s methodologies are fully integrated into ISO27001 and ISO9001 security and quality management systems providing Alfresco with best practice security testing services.
Activity’s consultants spend a dedicated portion of their time between assignments performing research on new vulnerabilities and security technologies to ensure that they remain fully informed on the latest security issues and their remediation. This research extends at a project level to specific research both during the assessment and during the reporting phase to ensure that Alfresco fully understands the issues on any new technologies or vulnerabilities identified.
“Alfresco has been designed for enterprises. Organizations need to be more aware of who they are sharing data with when it comes to the security of their organization’s content in the cloud,” said David Gildeh, Director of Cloud Services. “The partnership with Activity allows customers to have greater peace of mind, providing additional independent assurances as well as assisting us to proactively meet industry regulations and best practices.”
Activity is a CESG CHECK penetration testing service provider and a member of the Council of Registered Ethical Security Testers (CREST) with all of its services being independently certified to comply with the international standards (ISO 9001) for quality and information security management (ISO 27001). Activity’s testing team is supported by a team of highly experienced security consultants who have both government and private sector experience in all aspects of security consultancy.
Experienced Activity consultants provide Alfresco with an ongoing full assessment of any application implemented using web technologies such as HTTP(s), XML, .NET or SOAP with the goal of identifying vulnerabilities that could be used to compromise the application or any interconnected or backend systems.
