CENIT eMigrator for Alfresco

Solution Name:
CENIT eMigrator for Alfresco
Works with Alfresco:
4.1, 4.0

CENIT eMigrator for Alfrescois a migration tool for the automated filling of Alfresco with data from any source systems. With its modular structure it addresses the most diverse migration scenarios “outside the box”. Usually there is no need for any additional development; this tool is set up for the specific application by configuring the existing modules.

In this way, we can create a migration project for you which is as streamlined as possible.

  • Linking the most diverse source systems by means of interchangeable reader modules
  • Restart option, status and progress checking by means of a document book in the relational database
  • Migration of embedded file structures, document classes, metadata, security and annotations
  • Flexible processing of metadata by means of client- specific plug-ins : Extraction, enhancement and modification of metadata
  • Support for format conversions, e.g. from TIFF to PDF/A

Managing and handling all documents in one central place is the first step towards greater productivity and cost-saving in document processing and management within companies. An essential aspect of this is the “filling” of the new target system with data. In these cases, very often the large quantity of existing documents are, for example, transferred by file servers to Alfresco as the “initial filling” with data.

The CENIT eMigrator for Alfresco migrates documents independently of the source system into the Alfresco Enterprise Content Management Platform. This is distinguished by a modular structure and, in this way, it guarantees a flexible design, enabling it to respond to specific client requirements. Vast databases can be transferred simply to Alfresco when aided by this.

Multithreading and batch-processing guarantee optimum efficiency. The CENIT eMigrator for Alfresco has proved itself to be a reliable, fast and safe tool in a number of migration projects which have been implemented successfully.

Both simple documents and any data objects, including the associated metadata, can be migrated. Moreover, data structures (e.g. folder structures in the file system) are also migrated. The identification and the mapping of the migration data (e.g. classifications, metadata extraction or access rights) are implemented by the relevant transformation modules.  Client-specific plug-ins allow the contents of documents to be analysed (e.g. to identify metadata) and allow data enhancement by means of accessing third-party systems.

The accurate transfer of the contents is checked using the checksum module either on a permanent basis or by means of random spot checks. During migration objects can be transformed (e.g. rendering TIFF as PDF/A format, encrypting or merging individual pages in a document).
