The Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR) and Senior Insurance Managers Regime (SIMR) have been extended to cover all banking, insurance and other Financial Services organisations. All existing key management staff are expected to be certified by early 2017. Both SM&CR and SIMR require ongoing commitment to maintain annual certifications, and to support staff in complying with the regulators’ issued Rules of Conduct.
Looking outwards, both EU Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Payments Services Directive (PSD2), are regulations that are having a direct impact on how customer information is shared and protected, and will need to be implemented with similar rigour.
As regulatory compliance continues to impact Financial Services Organisations, we examine some of the key practical impacts of regulation, and will demonstrate how some of the Information and Process management tools help manage its ongoing implementation with consistency, minimal operational disruption and reduced costs.
Some of the key areas discussed are:
- Determining the relevant managers & roles affected by the regulation
- Maintaining information security and auditability
- Training, initial certification, annual re-certifications
- Detecting & managing regulatory breaches
- Responding to regulator requests and annual reporting
