Alfresco Set for Major Expansion of Australian System Integrator Partners in 2011
System Integrators Continue Shift to Open Source Solutions in Current Economic Climate
Sydney, Australia – November 10, 2010 – Alfresco Software, the leader in open source enterprise content management (ECM), today announced the expansion of its Australian and New Zealand partner program for system integrators (SIs) in response to increasing demand for open, flexible and cost effective ECM solutions.
As open source economics continue to create new opportunities for SIs, the lack of upfront license fees for Alfresco ECM enables enterprise customers to fund more projects and allocate more budget and resources to project delivery.
With downloads of Alfresco Community surpassing 2 million and new customers in Australia and New Zealand increasing over the past year, demand for Alfresco’s open source solutions has risen dramatically. As a result, the need for approved Alfresco SI partners to deliver and support new project implementations, as well as provide expertise to assist with migrations from legacy ECM systems, has been high.
Having recently invested in Sydney-based sales, pre-sales and technical support staff, Alfresco is now turning its attention to expanding its base of SI partners. As a result, Alfresco is on track to more than triple its number of SI partners across Australia by the end of 2011.
“Alfresco is a channel-centric company with over 60% of our global revenue coming from subscriptions to Alfresco Enterprise delivered via our channel partners. In the Australian and New Zealand geography, we have a number of loyal and committed partners, but frankly the market for our business here is under-served. We need more partners, not just for effective geographic coverage, but also to meet industry specialisation needs as well,” said Barry Costin, Alfresco territory manager for Australia and New Zealand.
“The consistent message I am getting from SIs who currently sell 'traditional' proprietary ECM systems is that these products are stagnating as customers look for lower TCO alternatives. The large up front costs of these products are becoming too hard to justify and secure capex for. Open Source alternatives like Alfresco open up new, lower-barrier-to-entry options for them.”
Alfresco’s SI partner program also offers benefits that will enable SIs across Australia and New Zealand to build new practice areas and generate consistent revenue streams around Alfresco open source ECM and Web Content Management (WCM) technologies.
