Alfresco Software Awarded GSA Contract Schedule
Trusted government IT solutions provider Carahsoft Technology Corp. partners with Alfresco Software, allowing federal and state customers to buy Alfresco ECM solutions via GSA
WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 11, 2008 – Alfresco today announced the award of a GSA listing, GS-35F-0131R, providing government customers with the ability to conveniently purchase and deploy Alfresco ECM solutions.
Alfresco is unique in producing a full enterprise content management system based on open source software and open standards, enabling unprecedented scale, rapid innovation, community contributions to the product development and a much lower total cost of ownership than proprietary systems.
Alfresco has seen major adoption of its open source ECM system throughout the world with over 1 million product downloads, more than 20,000 active deployments of the product and a customer base of more than 300 enterprise accounts, including federal, state and local government such as the Federal Aviation Authority, State of Nebraska and NASA.
Alfresco’s inclusion on the GSA schedule is enabled by an agreement with Carahsoft Technology, a leading government IT solutions provider based in Reston, Virginia that represents a select group of top tier software and hardware manufacturers. Under the terms of this agreement, the GSA has awarded Alfresco’s products onto the Carahsoft Technology Corp. GSA schedule effective 11/19/04 through 11/19/09.
"Alfresco’s ECM solutions are an excellent complement to our growing portfolio of open source technologies,” said Craig P. Abod, president, Carahsoft, which serves as a master aggregator for numerous best-of-breed open source vendors. “We are pleased to add the firm’s software to our GSA schedule to address the growing demand for these extremely cost-effective, scalable and interoperable solutions, as well as provide our reseller partners with access to this industry-leading open source ECM platform."
"Alfresco provides clients with robust and innovative ECM capabilities at a fraction of the cost of proprietary ECM software," said John Powell, CEO and co-Founder, Alfresco Software. “With demand increasing for Alfresco Software in the government sector, the new GSA contract schedule makes it easier for our customers to buy and deploy Alfresco solutions. Carahsoft’s proven track record in serving enterprise government clients and their ability to provide superior service to our government customer base makes them an ideal partner for Alfresco."
