Alfresco Outlines Regional Blueprint with India Operations Launch
Aggressively looking at strengthening ties with Indian partner community
Bengaluru, 12th January 2012: Alfresco, the open platform for social content management, has stepped up its regional presence in the Asia Pacific with its India operations launch. Alfresco has identified India as a strategic market that will help propel its global growth and is now looking at major investments to meet rapidly growing demand for enterprise content management (ECM) solutions.
India already boasts a fast growing midmarket customer base, interest in commercial open source models and growing traction around social content management solutions. At the same time, Indian enterprises are witnessing a growing number of young people joining their workforce who are adept at using social media tools and generating social content by way of micro blogs, use of video and accessing content on their smartphones or tablets which is rapidly changing the content management needs of large and mid- sized Indian enterprises. In view of these changing organizational needs, Indian enterprises are looking to upgrade their existing content management platforms with solutions that can improve employee productivity and has lower cost and lower management complexity. All these play to Alfresco’s commercial open source model, which allows partners to adopt and implement enterprise class solutions at affordable prices and with faster returns on investment.
"We see Asia becoming a much larger market for IT in general and content management solutions in particular over the next five years. Our strategy therefore is to invest now as the opportunity in the region is remarkable, especially in three key markets - India, Australia and Japan - so we can accompany this growth and extend our offering to the growing software services market," said Denis Dorval, VP EMEA & APAC, Alfresco. "We are excited about the formal expansion of our global presence into Asia and, with our Indian operations launch, we are eager to deliver all the benefits of our leading open platform for content management to businesses and partners here."
Large and medium-sized Indian systems integrators (SIs) have already implemented Alfresco's future-proof solutions that offer faster ROI, provide consumerisation of content-management software and an open-standard approach for public sector government entities as well as many private sector organizations. Their interest and growing practice around the Alfresco Enterprise Edition will fuel newer deployments across major industry verticals such as Banking, Insurance, Media, Retail and the Public Sector.
"We want to strengthen our relationships with the partner community here and help them deliver modern content management solutions that are cost-effective and platform-agnostic to their Fortune 2000 customers the world over," said Vivek Pai, who was recently appointed as Country Manager for its India operations. "We also intend on nurturing and developing a wide community of developers and IT shops in India who can build modern, content-rich business solutions to serve the mid and low segments."
Pai will be responsible for developing Alfresco's brand, partner network and Enterprise business in the Indian market. Prior to Alfresco, Pai spent 8 years in various sales and marketing roles at IBM, including Country Manager – Sales for Lotus Software. Prior to IBM, Pai held posts at Symantec, Xerox and Ricoh.
