Alfresco Adds 40 Customers for Alfresco Intelligent File System

Alfresco OEM Momentum Continues

SANTA CLARA, Software 2007, May 8th, 2007—Alfresco Software, Inc., the first and leading provider of an open source enterprise content management solution, today announced that the Alfresco Intelligent File System, which was previously embedded within the Alfresco Enterprise Content Management server is now available as a standalone embeddable option for OEM’s.

The shared drive is the de-facto document management interface for the vast majority of users today. Alfresco has been downloaded over 550,000 times and this ability to offer a virtual shared drive interface has allowed Alfresco to rapidly gain mass adoption.

The Alfresco Intelligent File System (AIFS) offers the following features and functionality:

  • Only Pure Java implementation - CIFS, NFS and FTP
  • High Performance – Similar to the native file system
  • Enterprise Authentication – NTLM, NTLMSSP, SPNEGO, Kerberos/AD
  • Real-Time Access – No copy to local disk and conflict resolution issues
  • Offline Access - Integration to Microsoft® briefcase

The availability of AIFS as an OEM license enables partners to rapidly and at much lower cost add AIFS features and functionality to their products. Example uses include shared drive interfaces to content management systems, databases or content enabling applications such as Customer Relationship Management.

“Alfresco was designed from the beginning to be embeddable and fits as easily into enterprise applications as small devices,” said John Powell, CEO, Alfresco Software, Inc. “Alfresco is enabling a new breed of content enabled applications with its modern architecture and low cost open source model. AIFS allows us to expand out OEM momentum with a simple interface that many vendors require.”

Over 40 customers including some of the largest software companies in the world have already “white-labeled” the Alfresco Intelligent File System.
