Alfresco Appoints Former SuccessFactors President Doug Dennerline as New CEO
Seasoned enterprise cloud veteran to lead Alfresco's next stage of growth
London, UK - January 15, 2013 - Coming off the biggest quarter in the history of the company, Alfresco, the open platform for business-critical content management and collaboration, today announced that it has appointed former SuccessFactors (part of SAP) President Doug Dennerline as CEO. Doug will lead the company through its next phase of expansion, driving business strategy and operations to capitalize on the rapidly growing content management market.
“We have come to a unique intersection as a company and I couldn’t be happier to welcome Doug to Alfresco. The best future for Alfresco, its employees, customers and investors is to continue to grow and to ultimately pursue an IPO in the U.S. markets,” explained John Powell, former CEO and co-founder of Alfresco. “I’m confident that Doug’s experience and impressive enterprise cloud success will take Alfresco through this next phase of growth.”
A 25-year veteran of some of Silicon Valley's best, Doug was most recently president of SuccessFactors, Inc. until its acquisition in 2012 by SAP for $3.4 billion. Before joining SuccessFactors, he was executive vice president of enterprise sales for Americas at Salesforce.com. Previously, Doug was the chief executive of the Webex division of Cisco.
“In seven short years, John and the Alfresco team have created a world-class technology company that, through the power of its open-source model, has completely disrupted the enterprise content space,” said Doug Dennerline, newly appointed CEO of Alfresco. “We are at the very beginning of the enterprise shift to cloud and mobile, making Alfresco perfectly positioned to lead that shift.”
Having introduced the industry’s first hybrid cloud sync platform for enterprise content, Alfresco closed a record quarter with significant customer wins over cloud-only competitors. Quarterly successes included:
- 24th straight quarter of year-over-year revenue growth;
- 109 new enterprise customers in 27 countries;
- Multiple $1 million+ deals in government, financial services and media industries;
- Largest quarter in revenue for the U.S.;
- Strong continued momentum across Europe;
- Named as a ‘Visionary’ in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Content; Management and InfoTech’s Vendor Landscape as a ‘Value Leader;' and,
- Significant cloud integrations announced with Amazon Web Services, Salesforce.com, Google Docs and Microsoft Office.
“As the first investor in Alfresco, we have always believed that the Alfresco team was capable of disrupting the content management market with its open approach. Under John Powell’s leadership, they have accomplished just that and we are grateful and appreciative of John’s contributions,” said, Kevin Comolli, Managing General Partner, Accel Partners and Alfresco board member. “We are thrilled to have Doug on board and look forward to a seamless transition to his leadership in driving the future culture, strategy and success of Alfresco.”
Doug will be joining the Alfresco board of directors along with his new role as CEO, and Alfresco also plans to expand its presence in San Francisco in 2013.
“Doug’s leadership experience at three disruptive software companies and his immersion in Silicon Valley culture will help Alfresco achieve escape velocity in 2013,” said Robin Vasan, Mayfield Fund Managing Director and Alfresco board member. “Doug inherits the founding team’s contributions of a culture of excellence, a loyal user community and a differentiated product line, which can now serve as catalysts for Alfresco’s place as cloud computing leader.”
