Alfresco to Host Inaugural Developer Conferences in New York and Paris

Developer-Focused Sessions Offer Technical Demonstrations, Code Walkthroughs for CMIS, Content Application Development, WCM and More

LONDON – August 4, 2010 – Alfresco Software today announced two Developer Conferences designed to offer a deep technical dive into both Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) and Alfresco’s open source ECM platform, to be held in Paris (October 20-21) and New York City (November 3-4). Led by the Alfresco product engineering team, the Developer Conference will provide attendees with a unique opportunity to learn about content-centric application development and provide them with the resources to start creating CMIS applications, allowing them to participate in the burgeoning Composite Content Application market place.

The Alfresco Developer Conference agenda will consist of three tracks:

  • Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS): Enabling developers to learn about CMIS, what organizations can do with it and where to find the resources necessary to start crafting custom CMIS applications;
  • Content Repository Services: Alfresco architects will demonstrate how to extend the platform’s core services through practical examples and code walkthroughs;
  • Web Content Management (WCM): Developers will explore firsthand the radical changes coming to Alfresco’s WCM capabilities.

This conference is designed exclusively for developers and will be presented by developers. Alfresco’s engineering team members will present at the conference and participate in the networking sessions, including:

  • John Newton, Chairman and CTO;
  • David Caruana, Chief Architect;
  • Michael Farman, Director, ECM & Collaboration Products;
  • Tom Baeyens, Project Lead, Activiti;
  • Ben Hagan, WCM Product Manager.

“The timing for our first Developer Conferences couldn’t be better – CMIS is a game-changer for the ECM market and, as founding members of this new standard, we look forward to sharing our expertise on how to develop a new wave of highly portable and interoperable, content-centric applications,” said Nancy Garrity, Community Director at Alfresco. "With technical walkthroughs of the Alfresco platform, Developer Conference attendees can expect to come away with a complete understanding of how to deliver CMIS-enabled, Alfresco-based content solutions to address their business needs."

Alfresco’s Developer Conferences will be highly technical and best suited for those looking to go deep under the covers of Alfresco. For developers new to Alfresco, the company will also be coordinating pre-conference Alfresco Quickstart Training. This is designed as a hands-on, intensive course on the fundamentals of Alfresco specifically conceived for developers.

Registration is now open and an early-bird rate is available until August 31st:
