Alfresco Positioned as a Challenger in Gartner 2016 Magic Quadrant Report for Enterprise Content Management

Evaluation Based on Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute

SAN MATEO, Calif.– November 8, 2016 – Alfresco Software, a leading provider of enterprise content management (ECM) and business process management (BPM) software, today announced that Gartner, Inc. has named Alfresco a Challenger in its 2016 Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Content Management (ECM)[1] based on its ability to execute and completeness of vision. This is the first year that Alfresco has been placed in the Challengers quadrant. The full report is available from the Alfresco website here.

Gartner says, “shifting business requirements for digital content and new technologies are changing the ECM market.” In response to these changes Gartner has “recast its definition of ECM to emphasize the strategic need for a more dynamic, flexible and adaptable approach to content within enterprises. These changes are bringing new dynamism, growth and innovation to a mature market.” [1]

Alfresco believes its placement in this year’s Gartner Magic Quadrant validates their ability to be an enterprise open-source software company focused on advancing the flow of digital business. Their flexible, scalable, and integrated platform moves information through business processes—from person to person, function to function—quickly, seamlessly and intelligently. People can work faster and organizations can adapt to evolving needs; achieving more than they ever thought possible.

Customers are also reporting on the value of Alfresco, as noted in the October 17, 2016, Gartner Peer Insights Review[2]: “Over the years I have seen Alfresco grow into a stable product, with innovative features, and backed up by excellent customer service (training, technical support, development support, customer success manager, etc...). We have defended Alfresco within our organization from other products like OpenText and have been rewarded with a pleasant experience with Alfresco. Your staff is what makes this product and they work with us as if they are equally vested in our success. At the same time, the cost of Alfresco is competitive with anything on the market. In one word, brilliant.”

Alfresco unites modern application development, content, business process and compliance management technologies into a single platform that allows organizations to build tailored, user-centric applications that deploy quickly across web, desktop and mobile.

“We have made significant investments in our ECM and BPM solutions with Alfresco One and Alfresco Activiti, and are honored to be recognized by Gartner as a Challenger in the latest Magic Quadrant for ECM,” said Thomas DeMeo, vice president of product management at Alfresco. “We see our move to this new position as a reflection of drive to improve the digital flow of business for customers through packaged solutions developed with our certified partners and shows that we’ve gained significant ground on our legacy competitors.”
