Caixa Andorrana de la Seguretat Social Chooses Alfresco for its Public Online Service Processing Portal

In conjunction with IN2, Alfresco’s business partner in Spain

Caixa Andorrana de la Seguretat Social (CASS), the Andorran social security system administrator, has integrated Alfresco software into its new public online service processing portal. Alfresco is the market leader in open source Enterprise Content Management (ECM).

The company IN2, an Alfresco partner in Spain, won this ambitious project through a public tender. This project focuses on updating and improving the CASS portal on the Internet, while at the same time expanding the on-line processing services for this organization. CASS has been equipped with a portal and a processing platform that make it possible to add contents and functions without requiring the aid of expert programmers.

To do this, three elements have been defined that interact with each other: the public portal (user view), the private portal (administration view and the user’s private space) and general application administration (administration view for low level tasks).

The Alfresco Content Management system is the underlying repository for the platform and it enables document flows, which are associated with the administrative processing of documents and files, to be executed.

In addition to managing document flows, the solution enables the secure processing and execution of on-line payment transactions and electronic processes, all of which use Alfresco.

Registered users access the personal space that displays the status of their current processes, the processes log and notices related to pending processes. In addition, content can be displayed in either PDF or electronic format. In order to execute a process, users can enter their data through a web form and confirm it using an electronic signature.

With this project, CASS has modernized and improved its portal by implementing new functions and processes, both for internal and external users. It has provided the organization with the structure it needed to ensure the required levels of client services are reached.

The solution that has been set up will enable CASS to implement new applications on the initial platform that is now running. It will also be able to integrate external services in the future, including its own services (medical-leave and discharges) and third-party services (electronic signatures from the medical association).
